Everything Earthenware

£560.00
sold out

AUGUST 26th-27th-28th-29th-30th.

A five day course. We will be looking into all aspects of making and decorating in earthenware clay. Students will be encouraged to try out different combinations of clays, making techniques, wheel thrown, hand built and press moulds. We will experiment with coloured slips and decorating styles, looking at historical and contemporary earthenware pottery.

In my pottery workshop I only have 5 students per course. Each will have access to a electric or kick wheel, with plenty of storage racks for your pots, dustbins of slips and glazes for you to use.

Teaching ends at 5 p.m you are welcome to continue working in the pottery. We often gather for wine and nibbles at the end of the day. On one of the evenings,  I will get my Woodfired bread oven hot and we’ll cook pizzas for all to share.

Here at Golden Valley Cottage, we firmly believe that pots and food go hand in hand. The summer pottery courses have a growing reputation for colourful homemade vegetarian lunches using vegetables and flowers from the garden. Mariettes home baked biscuits and cakes made with eggs from our own hens and ducks, are served at regular intervals with coffee and tea. All presented in and on our collection of studio pottery.
