sold out

12th-131th-14th-15th-16th August.

A five day course covering, making, slipping, decorating, glazing and firing earthenware pots. A five day course in which each student will be able to make pots in the studio and at the end of the course we will fire my Phoenix design, wood fired kiln. Each student will be able to take home all the work that they have made and fired themselves. This course is designed to help you develop as a maker, we will cover throwing and handbuilding as well as, exploring Slips and glazes, packing and learning all aspects of wood firing

In my pottery workshop I only have 5 students per course. Each will have access to a electric or kick wheel, with plenty of storage racks for your pots, dustbins of slips and glazes for you to use.

Teaching ends at 5 p.m you are welcome to continue working in the pottery. We often gather for wine and nibbles at the end of the day. On one of the evenings,  I will get my Woodfired bread oven hot and we’ll cook pizzas for all to share.

Here at Golden Valley Cottage, we firmly believe that pots and food go hand in hand. The summer pottery courses have a growing reputation for colourful homemade vegetarian lunches using vegetables and flowers from the garden. Mariettes home baked biscuits and cakes made with eggs from our own hens and ducks, are served at regular intervals with coffee and tea. All presented in and on our collection of studio pottery.
